From Charles de Gaulle Airport:
• Upon arrival at the Lorraine TGV train station, take the shuttle bus to Nancy (approx. €10).
• Alternatively, you can travel to Nancy by train from Paris Gare de l’Est.
To reach Gare de l’Est from the airport, several options are available (RER B, taxi, or shuttle).
Once at Gare de l’Est, take the TGV Est high-speed train to Nancy.

From Nancy Train Station to ENSEM:
• Take Trolley Line T1 (direction: Vandoeuvre Brabois Hôpitaux) from Nancy Train Station and get off at Technopôle stop

The International Relations Office will assist you in booking your accommodation.
The most affordable option for students is a university residence managed by CROUS.

In all cases, paying a deposit and purchasing housing insurance is mandatory.

Any student residing in France can apply for housing assistance from the CAF (Caisse d’Allocations Familiales). However, eligibility depends on several criteria, such as rent and personal financial resources. Applications are submitted online via the CAF website. You will need to complete the form online, print your file, and submit it to the CAF office along with the required documents.

Important: The rental contract must be in the applicant’s name.

Foreign students must prove they have sufficient financial resources (at least €650/month) for the entire duration of their stay in France (this is a condition for obtaining a visa).

It is essential to plan your budget before arrival. Below is an estimated monthly cost of living for a student in Nancy:
• Accommodation: €150 – €400 (depending on the type of housing)
• Food: approximately €200/month — a full meal at a CROUS university restaurant costs €3.20
• Transportation: monthly bus pass approximately €25 (single ticket €1.30)
• Movie ticket (student rate): €6.20 – €7.90
• Housing insurance (annual): around €50
• Complementary health insurance (optional but highly recommended): €10 – €30/month

Please note that actual expenses will depend on your personal lifestyle.
If you stay in France for more than 3 months, you will need to open a French bank account.
Before departure, check whether your bank in your home country has agreements with French banks, which may simplify the process.

Usually, you will be required to provide the following documents:

• A valid ID card or passport (with a visa if applicable for non-EU citizens)
• Proof of residence in France (rental agreement, utility bill, CROUS accommodation certificate, etc., dated within the last 3 months)
• A copy of your ENSEM admission letter or enrollment certificate

Before arriving in Nancy:
European students:
You must request a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Contact your local health authorities for the application form and procedure.

Non-European students:
We recommend purchasing private health insurance in your home country to cover medical expenses from your arrival date until September 30th.

Once in Nancy:
All students must register for French national health insurance during registration at ENSEM via the following website: ameli.fr
Registration for French student social security is free of charge.
All ENSEM students also have access to the University Health Center offering various healthcare services.
For more information, please contact the University Health Service (SUMPPS, also called “Santé U”):
